The swiss Meeting is coming up with a large and interesting line-up. The spot: the wellknown Red factroy at the bench of the Zurich-lake.

Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland with a population of approx 400.000 and 1million in its urban areas.

The city is Switzerland’s main commercial and cultural centre and due to the concentration of financial power it is widely considered to be one of the world’s global cities.

According to several surveys the city should have the “best quality of life” in the world. It is a hub for rail, road, and air traffic.

There are many ugly walls around the city, and we really got some nice spots on the screen, but unfortunatley the municipality is kind of conservative and restricitve towards Graffiti- and Mural-Art.

It is located on the bench of the lake and an established cultural institution, self organised and independent.

Meeting of Styles Switzerland
From July 24th until July 26th 2009 the four elements of hip hop will be brought together and celebrated for the seventh time in Switzerland . Over 60 professional writers from Switzerland and abroad will recreate the walls of the Red Factory, according to the international theme of “beyond materialism.” Accompanied by well-known DJs, rap deposits, concerts and breakdancing moves opens the Meeting of Styles Switzerland the gates for all art and culture – lovers of HipHop.

The Meeting of Styles Switzerland is part of the world’s “Meeting of Styles”, which annually in over 16 different countries on three continents will be carried out. This year, inter alia, in the USA, Canada, South America and Europe.

“Beyond materialism”
From July 24th until July 26th 2009 the four elements of hip hop will be brought together and celebrated for the seventh time in Switzerland. Four elements of HipHop The meeting includes not only the element, ‚graffiti ‘, but represents all areas of hip hop culture: In addition to the design of the walls, attractive framework around the open-air gallery will be offered from Friday to Sunday. Well-known DJs, local rap and hot freestyle sessions, just as the free workshops for children and young people in breakdancing, rap, graffiti and DJ-ing. The Meeting of Styles is free to visit and the bar and grill directly in the courtyard of the Red Factory offers optimum seating, to watch the artists in their work.

Tolerance and acceptance
In Switzerland it is not easy to find good space for an international graffiti jam, as in many cities anti-graffiti campaigns run, and legal graffiti will not be tolerated. It is therefore a concern of the association “Meeting of Styles Switzerland” to show a broad audience the phenomenon of graffiti from its positive and artistic side. Manuel Gerullis, initiator of the world’s “Meeting of Styles” explains: “The aim of the meeting is one the one hand, to strengthen the network in the scene and the artists a forum to offer. Other hand, we want to raise awareness for a constructive dealing with the graffiti art and identify ways to integrate. This is the foundation for mutual acceptance. ”
