Graffiti Events Around The Globe!

18-19 May 07, Zagreb (Croatia)

January 12th, 2008 · No Comments

ZGB07web018.jpg Croatia…. beautiful country with beautiful people. The jams down there are always kind of hot. Not only because of the females but also because of the Hip-Hop- and especially the hrvatski Graffiti-Scene.

The city has been tagged for years so you get to see a scribbeled city with a lot of amazing city-bombings. Zagreb is the capital and the largest city of Croatia. It is the cultural, scientific, economic and governmental center of the Republic of Croatia.

The city’s population in 2001 was 779,145 and 1,088,841 in the metro area. It is situated between the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountains and the northern bank of the Sava river at an elevation of 120 m above sea level. zagrebcitypic2.jpg
zgb07pic2.gif Its favourable geographic position in the southwestern part of the Pannonian Basin, which extends to the Alpine, Dinaric, Adriatic and Pannonic regions, provides an excellent connection for traffic between Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea.

The transport connections, concentration of industry, scientific and research institutions and industrial tradition underlie its leading economic position in Croatia. Zagreb is the seat of the central government, administrative bodies and almost all government ministries.

Zagreb is a very vibrant and active city. As it has a nice club-scene people really do know how to party. Though you have haters like in every city, the scene down here is generally nice and polite activists, zagrebstation.jpg
p1010004.jpg always ready to have a Slivovitz with you.The 2007-venue was the wellknown Graffiti-Hall-Of-Fame “Rotor”, a traffic-circle that connects the old part of the city with the new part.

It contains 12 walls in 6 underpasses, two more long walls, next to the station with a nice green in the middle to party and chill on. The Rotor is a legal Hall-Of-Fame that is available for painting all times.

How to reach the Rotor: the easiest way is to start from the main square in zagreb, Trg Bana Jelacica , reachable by tram number 6 from both central bus or central train station (direction should be asked for making things sure).

Then from Trg Bana Jelacica take tram number 14, direction Zagrebacki Velesajam (Zagreb international Fair, which is held in new part of Zagreb across the river Sava).

Then you run for like 9-10 stations and as soon as tram crosses the bridge, it stops right in the middle of Graffiti Hall-Of-Fame which means you have reached the spot!

After most of the artists had arrived the Jam started friday night with an inofficial opening-party. While most artists were ready in the morning, few of those who enjoyed Zagreb“s Night-Life arrived high-noon.

At this time walls were primed, concepts in work. The MOS is the major Graf-event down in Croatia. Artists from all over the Balkan came to join. zgb07web016.jpg
zgb07web013.jpg As it was a nice sunny day, people just stepped out of the tram, took a little walk through the Jam and jumped into the next one.

Around afternoon the soundsystem was set as well as a small stage so Djs and Breakers were spinning. Writers from Serbia, Bosnia-H., Slovenia and Croatia came to paint and to meet so the Jam happened in a familiar and chilly vibe.
