Brothers and sisters. The MOS came back to this funky city with its beautiful easy-minded people and girlies. Zagreb the capitol of Croatia, this nice country on the Adrian-Sea was again the place to be.
Over a weekend writers from Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Germany and Switzerland came together to continue the Balkan-Colour-Mission.
Croatia has a long history of Hip-Hop-Culture. Crews of all disciplines are active since the mid 80ies, even during those wars. Some major Rap-acts come down here to check for beats and colaborations.
Beside from usual politics people down here are very friendly and relaxed while the parties are damnend hot. We are glad that Zagreb“s Student-Plenum had decided to host the MOS in 2006 again.
The Studentski Centar is a very nice spot, located pretty central near the main train station, reachable by tram or foot in a short walk.
The area has approx 2000qm of walls available, spread among several buildings. Its all connected with a nice green to chill on… almost like a little park.
Beside of the usual MOS-style, Lunar and Stupni arranged a nice presentation with flics and videos with painting, outside-soundsystem, rappers, DJs and Zagrebs finest Breakers.
The Jam started as usual with a funky intro-party at the hottest club of Zagreb – Aquarius with a lot of fancy girlies and chilly chabos.
Once you are in the club and the party has started you breath this erotic climate caused by the humongous sex-appeal of the croatian ladies. Saturday early in the morning artists were already at the spot to grab cans and walls.
Beside of the main house (see concept below) several walls were done with nice concepts. The vibe was very chill, eventhough a writer got slapped for crossing, the atmosphere was based on cooperation and communication.
Later the day the sound-system was settled so tunes could be heard among the whole area. Special Hip-Hop-Flavour is caused by the trains passing by on two sides of the spot. And still you can see stuff running on steel.
Eventhough ther vibe was cool and the sun was shining, some little showers caused short breaks in the program. Later the day around evening, DJs were rocking the turntables while rappers overtook the scene.
When it got dark activists and spectators moved into the club of the centar, ready for the performances of serbian and croatian underground Rap-Act.
Beside of the general positive vibe, some heads couldnt control neither their hands nor their brains and tagged around the center on walls which were supposed to be untouched.
The result was critics and the fact that the local orga had to buff the tags, after an exhausting weekend. Things like that shouldnt happen on a Jam, because it makes it hard to get a permission for the next year. Please: if you visit a Jam, dont fuck it up and leave your brain somewhere else.
