In many different ways 2009 has been a special year – wars, dismantling of civil-rigths, desinformation and the so-called financial crisis which probably affected most people on an every-day basis.

After a tuff start and bad perspectives at the beginning of the year we feared the MOS couldn´t happen. However, at the end we got through enabled with a basic budget of free cans by Montana Germany and Carhartt Europe for flyers and posters.

Though it wasnt easy to work with very limited budgets, MOS kept its level and size and looks towards a new challenge. The time has come to check and to prepare MOS2010, so recently we have sent out our proposal on the search for sponsorships to all different kinds of brands. Though we know how important the MOS is to our worldwide community we are depending on a basic support to realise the events.

So far we have reached out to a lot of brands who are using Graffiti-Art either with thier products or in marketing. Companies such as Adidas, Puma, Converse, Nike, Asics, Reebok, K-Swiss, Gravis, Vans, Nokia, Motorola, Sony PS and way much more. We do know that most of these companies are strictly for profit, enslaving their cheap slave-labourers by counting production-times to hundreds of seconds or moving on with their factories when they find cheaper workers and less laws.  Until now: no serious replies!  So if and how the MOS2010 happens very much depends on the success of finding sponsors with the right mentality and attitude.

Meeting of Styles Italy 2009 from Urban Code on Vimeo.

Due to the processes of bureaucrazy the italian Meeting had to be delayed to October.

But nevertheless our local orga is coming through with a new impressive spot.

After 5 successful Meetings in Padua and Mestre-Venice, with more than 4500 square meters of painted surfaces, the Meeting of Styles is back to Mestre by the support of Urban-Code.

In Italy the place chosen is the Bissuola Park, the green heart of Mestre. Since the early 90s the Park Bissuola was a meeting place for various realities of young people in the city, including skaters and writers.

For years Urban Code, affiliates and the local writers claimed this space, even for the younger generations.

Because of the Meeting of Styles the opportunity has raised to bring the best italian writers  together to leave their marks on the walls and redevelop the surfaces.

We want to involve citizens, associations and institutions in a constructive debate on the issues of spaces, the degradation and failure of national policies of repression. The Meeting of Styles in Venice will be a free event, open to the citizens, a festive occasion and reflection to meet people and…  Meeting Of Styles: styles of letters and illustrations produced on site with a rich selection of the best Italian writers.

Propaganda Due or P2, is a Masonic lodge operating under the jurisdiction of the Grand Orient of Italy from 1945 to 1976 (when its charter was withdrawn), and a pseudo-Masonic or “black” or “covert” lodge operating illegally. During the years that the lodge was headed by Licio Gelli, P2 was implicated in numerous Italian crimes and mysteries, including the nationwide bribe scandal Tangentopoli, the collapse of the Vatican-affiliated Banco Ambrosiano, and the murders of journalist Mino Pecorelli and banker Roberto Calvi. P2 came to light through the investigations into the collapse of Michele Sindona’s financial empire and is sometimes referred to as a “state within a state” or a “shadow government”. The lodge had among its members prominent journalists, parliamentarians, industrialists, and military leaders; the Savoy pretender to the Italian throne Victor Emmanuel; and the heads of all three Italian intelligence services.

A new idea has been born to contribute the further netting of the worldwide Aerosol-Movement – the Book Of Walls.

Launched in September 2009 the Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize sought videos, of no more than 5 minutes in length, representing the work of the best and edgiest artists working in any medium, from performance art, painting and photography to sculpture, installation and new media.

Artists are competing for three prizes worth a total of $30,000 and prize winners and runners-up will see their videos screened on New York’s famous Times Square monitors on the 17th December. The “Grand Prize” and the “Best Street Art Video Award” winners will be selected by an illustrious judging panel led by iconic art-house actress and video artist Isabella Rossellini and the online and mobile community will vote on the winner of the “Audience Award”.

Also on the judging panel will be Lee Wells, the Curator-at-Large for the SCOPE Art Fair (and Co-founding Director of the video art archive Perpetual Art Machine), Cedar Levisohn, Curator of the Tate Modern gallery’s groundbreaking Street Art (2008) exhibition and Howard Halle, chief art critic for Time Out New York and former curator of Performance Art at The Kitchen.

The city has 61,3 km of underground railway systems with 4 lines in operation and 55 stations, complemented by another 261,7 km of Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos railways.

The spot is located in a suburb of this metropolis. As we had a tremendous interest of artists to participate, we apologise we are not able to consider everybody and supply everybody with paint and wall. Our budgets in terms of space and cans are simply restricted.So if you are not on the list, dont be mad with us, come along make connections, meet people and have a great time.

	All underground railways carry  5 million people on an average weekday. Afew new underground lines constructed are expected to add another million people to the system within the next five years.
The projects expected to expand São Paulo’s urban railway system from the current 323 km to more than 500 km on the next 10 years.

After years of audacious plans and cancellations, the country is gain on the graffiti world map.

Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal. Its municipality, which matches the city proper excluding the larger continuous conurbation, has a population of 564,477, while the Metropolitan Area in total has around 2.8 million inhabitants, and 3.34 million people live in the broader agglomeration of Metropolitan Region.

2009 sees the city of Seixal (located in the south bank of the River Tagus, opposite Lisbon) host the event for the first time. The Meeting Of Styles 2009 will take place during the Seixal Graffiti, an event on its 6th onsecutive year,
	and the only nationwide graffiti meeting in the country. The Seixal City Hall puts the event together and it will also feature various competitions, skate ramps and entertainment.

Coming up another MOS you shouldn´t miss. As always the mexican Orga will present you a crazy spot with lots of mexican and latin-american artistas.

Mexico City is the capital of Mexico, its  economic, industrial, and cultural center in the country, and the most populous city, with about 8,836,045 inhabitants in 2008.

Greater Mexico City incorporates 88 adjacent municipalitie and has a population exceeding 19 million people, making it third largest agglomeration in the world.

Mexico is wellknown and famous for its Writing- and Graffiti-scene.

Very vibrant with a large variety of styles, writers, crews and artists. Throw-ups, Tags, Quicks everywhere – outside the city-center hardly no unmarked wall to be found.

Mexican scene is strong and on a very high-level. The place to be in 09: the funky district of Nezahualcoyotl.

Currently there is a Drug War taking place between rival drug cartels and government forces in Mexico.

Although Mexican drug cartels or trafficking organizations, have existed for quite some time, they have become more powerful since the demise of Colombia’s Cali and Medellín cartels in the 1990s.

Mexican drug cartels now dominate the wholesale illicit drug market in the United States. Arrests of key cartel leaders, particularly in the Tijuana and Gulf cartels, have led to increasing drug violence as cartels fight for control of the trafficking routes into the United States.
