Meeting of Styles Switzerland – Getting colorful again

The international Graffiti Festival “Meeting of Styles Switzerland” celebrates its 10th anniversary. With more than 70 national and international artists, the walls of the Red Factory from Friday to Sunday will be repainted live! In addition, accompanying DJs, rappers, plus BBQ-grill and bar right in the courtyard, will round up the colorful spectacle. The Meeting of Styles is free for all to see.

For the tenth time spray-can-art will be celebrated at the highest level of professionals including artists from the USA, Germany, Italy and France. However, the organization puts the focus on Swiss graffiti artists to provide them with a creative platform,

as legal spaces disappear from year to year. In Switzerland it is very difficult to find a good spot for an international meeting of graffiti-artist, as in many cities, anti-graffiti campaigns are running and therefore legal graffiti is not tolerated. That is why the association “Meeting of Styles Switzerland”  main concern is to present the phenomenon of graffiti art and its positive side to an interested audience.

The factory has a lot of nice walls in various sizes for single pieces as well as for complex productions.

Three days of hip-hop culture
The “Meeting of Styles Switzerland” includes not only the element, graffiti ‘, but represents all aspects of hip-hop culture: in addition to the design of the walls, an attractive program will be offered around the open-air gallery: Famous DJs, a Live concert of the U.S. band “Slaughterhouse” and spontaneous breakdance interludes, graffiti workshops for children and young people. The bar and grill located in the courtyard of the Red Factory offers best seats to watch the artists at work.

Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland with a population of approx 400.000 and 1million in its urban areas. It is Switzerland’s main commercial and cultural centre and due to the concentration of financial power it is widely considered to be one of the world’s global cities.

After a little break we are glad that Greece is coming back on the map with a new city and a great venue!

Athens, the capital and largest city of Greece, is the place to be! It dominates the Attica region and is one of the world’s oldest cities, as its recorded history spans around 3,400 years. Classical Athens was a powerful city-state.

A centre for arts, learning and philosophy, home of Plato’s Academy, Aristotle’s Lyceum, it is widely referred to as the cradle of Western civilizatio, the birthplace of democracy, due to the impact of its cultural and political achievements during the 5th and 4th centuries BC.

Today a cosmopolitan metropolis, modern Athens is central to economic, financial, industrial, political and cultural life in Greece. The urban area extends beyond the municipal city limits, with a population of 4,013,368.

The place to be for the german Meeting Of Styles is the famous and original Brückenkopf which represents the biggest Mural-Gallery among Rhine-Main and beyond.

	A huge underpass-complex at the bench of the Rhine containing meanhwile more than 3000qm space on several walls, well reachable by train, car and bus….
The first events already happened late 90ies. Since then the underpass has completely changed from ghetto to an art-gallery.
	The main walls in the underpass have space for about 80-100 artists and are created in huge concepts.

Wiesbaden ist die Geburtsstätte des Projektes. In den Jahren von 1997-2001 konnte das “Wall-Street-Meeting“ die Stadt Wiesbaden und den Veranstaltungsort Schlachthof weltweit bekannt machen und zog während der Zeit seines Bestehens, über 25.000 BesucherInnen aus ganz Europa und der halben Welt nach Wiesbaden.

In the past years the gallery has grown by private walls around.

These walls give space for single pieces, but also crew-productions.

The Kick-Off of the 2012-season is already in April with a Network-Meeting and Summit of organsiers, artists, rappers and dancers from

all over Germany to the Netherlands, Russia and China and will

	continue with the creation of a noise-protection wall at 12th May, to the Meeting of Styles late June to the creation of a huge production at the Skate-Hall at the famous Schlachthof-grounds.
The available wallspace is about 600qm and will be created in a huge concept throughout a weekend in summer.

In cooperation with Amt für Soziale Arbeit Wiesbaden, Hip-Hop-Akademie Wiesbaden, Zulu Nation Netherlands, Chee Production China, Berlin Massive e.V and Kontext e.V. we present:

Die Wiesbadener Graffiti-Festivals genießen weltweite Bekanntheit. Während das Festival in den Jahren 1997-2001 eine lokale Veranstaltung war, die alljährlich hunderte Graffiti-KünstlerInnen und tausende BesucherInnen nach Wiesbaden zog, wuchs das Projekt in den darauffolgenden Jahren schnell über die Grenzen Europas hinaus und gilt heute als das größte Event seiner Art weltweit.

Netzwerk-Treffen

Durch grenzüberschreitende, internationale Zusammenarbeit enstand über viele Jahre hinweg ein weltweites Netzwerk von Künstlern, Organisatoren und Multiplikatoren.

Um die internationale Zusammenarbeit weiter voranzutreiben, organisiert Kontext e.V. gemeinsam mit Partnern im Rahmen der „China-Wiesbaden-Begegnung“ und des “Youth in Action Program” ein internationales Netzwerk-Treffen. Chinesische Künstler, Tänzer und Organisatoren treffen Künstler, Tänzer und Organisatoren aus Dresden, Mannheim, Mainz, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden und Offenbach.

Eröffnung Workshop-Keller

Seit Ende 2010 betreibt Kontext e.V. das Zentrum für urbane Kultur.

Mit Unterstützung durch das Amt für Soziale Arbeit sowie des Ortsbeirates Südost konnte der Keller zu einem Workshop-Raum umgebaut werden. Im Rahmen des Netzwerk-Treffens wird der umgebaute Keller eröffnet.

Abschluß-Präsentation „China-Wiesbaden-Begegnung“

Im Rahmen der internationalen Jugendbegegnung können Jugendliche aus Deutschland, Holland und China in Zusammenarbeit mit der Hip-Hop-Akademie Wiesbaden gemeinsam Workshops in den Bereichen Breakdance, Djing, Beatbox absolvieren. Die Ergebnisse der einwöchigen Workshops werden im Rahmen einer Abschluß-Party präsentiert.

Urban Code, our Graffiti-Masons from Venice, are currently preparing the latest details. Though the spot is not really sure yet, expect italian Graf on a top-level!

Urban Code in cooperation with the Salt Docks and PVC Revolt once again organizes the Italian leg of the International MOS. Now the countdown begins!

For the eighth edition. The place chosen this year for the third time is the Albanian Bissuola Park, the green heart of Mestre. Bissuola the park since the early 90′s was the meeting place of different realities of young people in the city, including skaters and writers, and we will continue to do so.

For years we have local authors and Urban Code claims that space, also painted for the younger generation of writers. The Meeting of Styles is in Venice, an event open to the citizenry, an occasion for celebration and reflection, meet people and meeting …: styles of letters and pictures on the site by a rich selection of the best Italian writers produced.

Some people want Graffiti to stay traditional, some people write their names, others do images. Some people do Graffiti-Writing, others do Street-Art, some use brushes other cans. In Buenos Aires all different disciplines create one giant gallery among the entire city.

ESTILO LIBRE and the Ministry of Environment and Public Space of the City of Buenos Aires present the first Urban Art Festival in Buenos Aires – Meeting Of Styles 2011!

The theme for 2011 is: “One world, One People.” Over 110 street artists from all over the world will produce individual and collective murals on large scale in Colegiales Square, and surrounding areas. In parallel with the MOS, the event ART IN PUBLIC SPACE will take place, and 10 other squares and public spaces will be painted during the three days event.

Two other ESTILO LIBRE strategic partners are: Sinteplast, a national top-quality paint, which launched during the MOS line of top-level aerosols. SULLAIR, in turn, is a national company that manufactures, distributes and rents equipment for industrial, construction and entertainment, and provides services for power generation in South America.

At this time the artists from ESTILO LIBRE are painting 30 machines (cranes, containers, elevators) to be used and displayed in the MOS. In short photos will be posted.

Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina and after São Paulo the second-largest metropolitan area in South America. Greater Buenos Aires conurbation includes several districts with a population of around 13 million.

The Buenos Aires Metro (locally known as subte, from “subterráneo”), is a high-yield system providing access to various parts of the city.

Opened in 1913, it is the oldest underground system in the Southern Hemisphere and has six lines, named by letters (A to E, and H) with 74 stations and 52.3 km (32 mi) of route.
	An expansion program is underway to extend existing lines into the outer neighborhoods and add a new north-south line. Route length is expected to reach 89 km (55 mi) by 2011.

Daily ridership on weekdays is 1.7 million, fares are cheap and are in fact cheaper than the city buses.

It took a little to sort everything out, but finally it is all set! Mexico getting ready for colour-invasion.

The spot is very large and has walls for nice productions!

Originally the meeting was scheduled for August. But due to the London-riots having consulted with the venue owners, police, and local authorities it is felt that it would be irresponsible to go ahead with a public event in the light of these disturbances. It’s obviously the last outcome we would want but our first priority has to be the safety of all involved.
