Meeting of Styles Switzerland – Getting colorful again

The international Graffiti Festival “Meeting of Styles Switzerland” celebrates its 10th anniversary. With more than 70 national and international artists, the walls of the Red Factory from Friday to Sunday will be repainted live! In addition, accompanying DJs, rappers, plus BBQ-grill and bar right in the courtyard, will round up the colorful spectacle. The Meeting of Styles is free for all to see.

For the tenth time spray-can-art will be celebrated at the highest level of professionals including artists from the USA, Germany, Italy and France. However, the organization puts the focus on Swiss graffiti artists to provide them with a creative platform,

as legal spaces disappear from year to year. In Switzerland it is very difficult to find a good spot for an international meeting of graffiti-artist, as in many cities, anti-graffiti campaigns are running and therefore legal graffiti is not tolerated. That is why the association “Meeting of Styles Switzerland”  main concern is to present the phenomenon of graffiti art and its positive side to an interested audience.

The factory has a lot of nice walls in various sizes for single pieces as well as for complex productions.

Three days of hip-hop culture
The “Meeting of Styles Switzerland” includes not only the element, graffiti ‘, but represents all aspects of hip-hop culture: in addition to the design of the walls, an attractive program will be offered around the open-air gallery: Famous DJs, a Live concert of the U.S. band “Slaughterhouse” and spontaneous breakdance interludes, graffiti workshops for children and young people. The bar and grill located in the courtyard of the Red Factory offers best seats to watch the artists at work.

After a little break we are glad that Greece is coming back on the map with a new city and a great venue!

	A huge underpass-complex at the bench of the Rhine containing meanhwile more than 3000qm space on several walls, well reachable by train, car and bus….
The first events already happened late 90ies. Since then the underpass has completely changed from ghetto to an art-gallery.
	The main walls in the underpass have space for about 80-100 artists and are created in huge concepts.

In the past years the gallery has grown by private walls around.

Various smaller walls at entrance and exit below the train-tracks

enlarge the gallery and are available to paint all year long.

These walls give space for single pieces, but also crew-productions.

How to get there?

The spot is right beneath the bridge connecting Kastel with the city of Mainz.

Freeway: A66 or A671 direction Wiesbaden, exit Mainz-Kastel onto B455 which takes you straight to the spot.

Bus: From Wiesbaden lines 6, 9, from Mainz line 28, 55, 91

The Kick-Off of the 2012-season is already in April with a Network-Meeting and Summit of organsiers, artists, rappers and dancers from

all over Germany to the Netherlands, Russia and China and will

	continue with the creation of a noise-protection wall at 12th May, to the Meeting of Styles late June to the creation of a huge production at the Skate-Hall at the famous Schlachthof-grounds.
The available wallspace is about 600qm and will be created in a huge concept throughout a weekend in summer.

As an opener to the 2012-season we are happy to present you a very special event: the Meeting Of Styles Summit and Network-Meeting. Artists from all over Germany will meet artists from China, Russia and The Netherlands in order to contribute the netting.

Die Wiesbadener Graffiti-Festivals genießen weltweite Bekanntheit. Während das Festival in den Jahren 1997-2001 eine lokale Veranstaltung war, die alljährlich hunderte Graffiti-KünstlerInnen und tausende BesucherInnen nach Wiesbaden zog, wuchs das Projekt in den darauffolgenden Jahren schnell über die Grenzen Europas hinaus und gilt heute als das größte Event seiner Art weltweit.

Netzwerk-Treffen

Durch grenzüberschreitende, internationale Zusammenarbeit enstand über viele Jahre hinweg ein weltweites Netzwerk von Künstlern, Organisatoren und Multiplikatoren.

Um die internationale Zusammenarbeit weiter voranzutreiben, organisiert Kontext e.V. gemeinsam mit Partnern im Rahmen der „China-Wiesbaden-Begegnung“ und des “Youth in Action Program” ein internationales Netzwerk-Treffen. Chinesische Künstler, Tänzer und Organisatoren treffen Künstler, Tänzer und Organisatoren aus Dresden, Mannheim, Mainz, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden und Offenbach.

Eröffnung Workshop-Keller

Seit Ende 2010 betreibt Kontext e.V. das Zentrum für urbane Kultur.

Mit Unterstützung durch das Amt für Soziale Arbeit sowie des Ortsbeirates Südost konnte der Keller zu einem Workshop-Raum umgebaut werden. Im Rahmen des Netzwerk-Treffens wird der umgebaute Keller eröffnet.

Abschluß-Präsentation „China-Wiesbaden-Begegnung“

Im Rahmen der internationalen Jugendbegegnung können Jugendliche aus Deutschland, Holland und China in Zusammenarbeit mit der Hip-Hop-Akademie Wiesbaden gemeinsam Workshops in den Bereichen Breakdance, Djing, Beatbox absolvieren. Die Ergebnisse der einwöchigen Workshops werden im Rahmen einer Abschluß-Party präsentiert.
