Another year, another mission!

	Zagreb (Croatia) – New spot, new vibe. The first year at the Student Center.
	Winterthur (Switzerland) – Very chill spot with a nice huge wall. More than 30 artists colaborating
	Wiesbaden (Germany) – New spot, new vibe. The fist event at the underpass-complex.
	Chicago (USA) – New spot, new vibe. Little Village was hosting the event on sveral walls among svereal blocks.
	Mexico DF (Mexico) – Humungous city, neverending traffic. The spot was dusty but had a long long wall

After the wicked mexican 04-expirience the MOS strickes back in the country of chicas, enchilladas and desperados. Eventhough last year has been mad, its been done again.

Mexico-City is a crazy place. The city is so huge and spread that its almost incredible. Approx 25million people live in this endless djungle.
	Obviously the city has been tagged and bombed hard for years and years – tags, throw-ups and runners everywhere. Not only the girlies in Mexico are hot as hell, but also the weather. The mexican MOS was a great inspiration.

The jam happened in the barrio Nezal Coyotl, with more than 3millions inhabitants.

La Fiesta GrandeWriters from all around Mexico like Guadalajara, Tijuana, D.F., Monterrey have participated as well as artists from Italy, Germany, Guatemala, USA.

It started Saturday around 10am with priming the walls and catching cans. Pretty fast each of the more than 150 writers has snatched his space ready to rock and to burn the walls of more than 1km length.
	Around afternoon, the sun was burning, the Red Bull-Lounge with soundsystem, drinks and shadow had been built up, DJs and Rappers took care of the right vibe with native raps and lyrics.
The mexican scene is quite huge, very active and very polite. Writers shared wallspace and cans in a relaxed atmosphere of communication and cooperation. After a hot and dusty day, around evening everybody got ready to get a shower and relax a bit.

In the night an after-party happened in a nice club near-by. Beside of rap-tunes a dope rock-band was playing. Later the night a serious battle between two Breakdance-Crews closed the first day.

	Sunday was more relaxed, but still hot and dusty. Writers came along to finish productions and to exchange contacts before leaving the town.
Good cans are very expensive so mexican writers work a lot with brushes and cheaper paint, but eventhough the outcome is high-quality. To see the quality and quantity of the artworks was a great inspiration. Approx 2000 people have come by to visit the event.

After checking several spots in San Fran, Oakland and LA, the deally for 2005-West-Coast-MOS was San Diego. You know the MOS-Orga-Team is able to react pretty fast sometimes. So we got the confirmation for a really dope spot in San Diego.

Location Commercial street between 27-29th.ST in San Diego.

Graffiti-scenes and cultures change from country to country and city to city. It was a beautiful and sunny day when the MOS happened. A lot of writers came to San Diego to represent and to burn. The West-Coast has a lot of high-quality writers and artists who wanted to participate and show their skills. Still a few days before the event, we received a lot of requests to paint. But as the space has been already thight, a lot of mails came too late.

In relation to the huge amount of writers and available space the spot was too small, eventhough it had several nice walls spread among several blocks. Some writers arrived very early in the morning to get their wallspace. You must know that the organisation of the MOS is happening on an idealogical and uncommercial basis. As everybody has to make a living somehow and the MOS doesnt really help in paying our bills, some of the organisers have only a bit time to organise.

In relation to the quantity of interest to participate the available time for organisation was obvioulsy to small. We apologize for the incovinience some writers may had due to the lack of time for a proper orga.. We consider your critics and will do our best to provide a better organisation in 2006. Due to this lack of time in SD it happened that some writers fought for wallspace macing each other. Eventhough we dont know about the detailed circumstances of this action, we feel sorry and apologize for it.

An action like this is not supposed to happen at a Meeting Of Styles, eventhough we might have been tight with time. You know that our aim is to connect people in a spirit of cooperation, communication and exchange. So please respect that, eventhough we are not a high professional organisation. Later the day the vibe was more smooth and relaxed. Writers were rocking the walls, people gathered to watch and just to hang around. Trains passed by the spot with a lot of flat noses at the windows. The weather was hot and sunny, the artworks being done were simply fresh. Writers from all around Cali to Texas came to represent.

The character you see below is part of a production “Land Of The Enforced” by Aero, Dome, Made, Zore and Yours. The topic of the wall was to illustrate the “Berlin-Wall” the USA is currently building on the border to Mexico.

You can see a wall in the back with styles on it. On top of the wall is a uniformed pig with a sing of La Migra. On the left side you can see a fucked up uncle Sam protecting the boarded. The “No Trespass”-sign had the signature of La Migra as well. La Migra is a slang word for the boarder-police. When we came by the next day to see the art, the La Migra-signs had been overpainted very properly. As wee took pics, the owner was watching us. Obviously the wall was too political, so it has been censored. Cliamte of fear.

After the great expirience of bringing Chitown´s major Graf-Crews together, the MOS returned to the windy city of Al Capone at the great lake.

The original spot was the longest graf-wall of the city. Was. It’s interesting how similar things can be, sometimes. If there wasn´t so much love, passion and engagement involved, some desk-operators had caused the cancellation.

	We are glad that we could count on SB-Crew and the Chicago Graf-scene´s support, so the Jam happened to be in Little Village, at walls around 3600 S. Albany and Kedzie.
In Belarus war-veterans and communists were against the jam close to their housing-project, in Chitown some officials feared thousands of visitors and graf-writers in the hood. This time the problem was not caused by the police (indeed were supportive about the event), the problem was caused by official representatives.

You got to know that Chicago-City is runinng a very strict anti-graffiti-campaign. The city buffs illegal pieces very fast, but also legal stuff which had been done with a permission of the owner.

The event started friday night with an Art-Show of some of Chicago’s best Graf-artists at a gallery featuring Old-School-King Zore, Rafa, Nerd and more. The Jam started saturday high-noon priming walls, talking about concepts.

Soon writers were active on several walls as the painting-action was spread over a couple of blocks in Chicago’s Little Village.Some walls have been around an industrial area, some near housing-areas. It’s been approx 10 walls in a nice size that were done on the week-end.Chicago-scene is very cooperative and open-minded people. Around afternoon Red Bull came along with sound-system and energy, the local scene and the MOS expressed its total vibe.

Chicao-Underground gave a presentation of Chicago-Hip-Hop. DJs were rocking and gave the whole event a smooth aura. One show after the other, crowned with a freestyle-session by great talents.

	Old school writers who write since more than 20 years came over and got active as well as new school writers. Barbeque had been done some blocks away from the main set and everything was chill.
The writing and rapping scene there is very well connected and all people come along with each other very well due to respect and appreciation, but: there is always somebody to cause trouble. Why?
	Cause the Latin Kings have put their sign on it, showing and representing their neighborhood. The writers who painted next to this wall, told everybody who was about to start painting on that wall, not to do it.

All of them respected. But just one guy was about to fuck up the whole event and almost caused serious troubles. In the evening when it was about to become dark he just crossed the signs of the LK’s by purpose. These Kings aint play around. Ready with bats, they chased the guy and run by the main wall.

Zore who knows just told everybody to leave, “The jam is over, get out of here”. After this short period of stress, everything calmed down and the LK apologized for the stress as they support the event,
	the local scene and let them paint the walls in their hood since years… all about respect! Sunday everything was chill. Writers came along in a more realxed atmosphere to finish walls or just to hang around.

Sunday night a great week-end had been closed with a party at Subterrenean featuring some of Chicago’s dopest and greatest rappers and crew such as The Blunt Crew, Jinx, Elementals, Ang13 and the Knomadz.The MOS was an absolut atuhentical jam.

Being there, you could feel the love the people have in thier heart, celebrating and living true Hip-Hop-Culture. It was a great expirience and one of the best jams to be.Big respect: We love Chicago Hip-Hop. Some crews representing the dope Chicago-style: CYA, CMW, MUL, XMEN, CMK, ELOTES and co., SB, ABC, CISA, Enimy and co., Kuaze and the East Indiana crew, DC5, RK, BTB.

Please note that if writers are not registered they cannot paint. We will have the assistance of all the writers involved on that point.

Chicago rules to get space:

1) Crews are prioritized, as a group can usually pull off more than an individual. We do not have spaces for individuals. Last year we had to create smaller spaces, which ultimately ended up sloppier, and were the first things buffed.

2) First contact, proven skills, first served: we ask that you send several pictures of your artwork. These will be measured against other flicks, and weighed first on a crew basis. If you are alone, or your crew is not dependable enough, we recommend you link with other individuals that you want to paint with to make a`crew for a day’.

3) Once the meetings begin, it is again first come first served. Those crews who arrive first receive priority. There were many people who contacted us, but did not come to the meeting…their loss.

We automatically reserve a certain amount of space for out-of-towners, so that they are guaranteed for their travels. This year we are asking out-of-towners to also submit work, because the hood needs quality painting when they do not know the painters. This year we are looking at a different location, so there will be less wall space and hopefully more concentrated interaction. Only ten crews and five individuals received paint last year, and this will probably be the case again. The majority of painters had to supply their own paint for their walls. Be prepared to not paint! I am preparing myself, because we have to establish how much space can fit how many writers, and we do not want writers crowding each other. Ultimately there are no promises being made now. We need flicks to put you in a possible rotation. Feel free to send any more questions about MOS Chicago.

New York City runs a very strict Anti-Graffiti-Campaign. But eventhough we managed to do the MOS twice. NYC is the first destination of the MOS in the USA. The Meeting there is a very much scene-related event.

The original spot of the past two years was not available in 2005. The reason is simple: because of tagging around the hood the landlords were not really supportive this year, eventhough they really liked and enjoyed the jam in the past.

So we changed the venue to Brooklyn and then found the ultimate spot in the South South Bronx by the help of hte living Legend Cope. If you have ever been to NYC you know what Graffiti is about, over there. The whole city has been bombed hard for more than 30 years.

You find tags, throw-ups, pieces everyhwere. Due to this strong and long history, the city of NYC is totally against Graf. So it was and is not easy to find good spots and get permits for an event. The Jam started early saturday morning, after the walls had been primed the night before, the venue was ready.
	Pretty fast writers came along ready to do their thing. The jam happened in a relaxed atmosphere. You know that sometimes the MOS-Orga. needs to be flexible depending on the city and its attitude towards Graf.

As we heard, the Vandal Squad spent the whole saturday waiting for writers at the Brooklyn-wall while everybody was up in the Bronx. Due to the situation and attitude of the city towards Graf the Jam was focussed just on painting. But eventhough writers had their sound-cars ready to hype it up with the stereo.

Some writers who participated: Cope2, TKid, Sen2, Pose2, Ghost, Sonic, YMI-Crew, RobotsWillKill, Ges, Dome, Yours from Germany, Made, Joys, Yama from Italy, Zore, Jinx,
	Hdye and Nerd from Chicago’s SB-Crew plus writers from France and Poland. Sunday the Jam continued. Writers came along to finish their works. Around afternoon, some heads didnt recognize where to paint and where not. Obviously the aerosol made it hard to recognise, so they bombed on walls they shouldn’t.
After the Vandal Squad spent saturday waiting at the wrong spot, at sunday they knew the place to be. So they were present. A neighbor has seen the kids tagging and bombing

around, called the police and out of the blue, agents jumped out of a cab and arrested three kids. Eventhough the cops didnt exactly know what the kids did, there was a click of handcuffs and a senseless discussion.

	They boys got arrested and spend a night in jail waiting for their high-speed trial. Things like this happen, when you dont know the precise situation of a city you are visiting.
Notice: things like this, make it harder for us to accomplish our mission. With every negative happening, you make it harder for us to bring back the MOS in the next year!

We hope to be able to raise consciousness. Bomb and tag around as much as you want, but not during a Graf-event.

Spot is: East 173rd st./Westfarm Road Bronx.

There were rumours saying the belgian MOS would not happen. Just a rumour. Probably the reason is the fact that Muntplein – the original spot – was under construction. But eventhough, we dit it again!

Due to the constructions, the spot wasnt available for the well-known Antwerp-style. It is and was possible to paint there, but not possible to get an official permission.
	But eventhough Uncle B.U.G.T. – the graffiti-pimp of Antwerp made it possible. He got a new wall at a nice youth-center near the Muntplein. The spot was very central in a yard with a huge wall of approx 80 m length and height of approx 5m plus a couple of smaller walls around.

Eventhough there have been constructions and fences, writers did a couple of walls at the Muntplein. In the past the graffiti-part has been the major attraction of the jam, but due to the constructions, this year the weight has been more equal concerning the other disciplines of hip-hop-culture.

This year it has been a real Hip-Hop-Jam which brought all the disciplines close together. The vibe of the whole jam was pretty smooth. People and especially the scene is very friendly in Antwerp;

no competition or beef between the writers and crews. No matter, if its writers who work at night- or day-shift – they all come along with each other without any disrespect, dissing or beef. Thats why the Jams in Antwerp are very smooth and chill. People come together to have a great time.After the jam had started friday in a relaxed atmosphere with a dvd-show at night, saturday was the main day with a huge

one-on-one-breakdance-battle (organised by Down 4 Kix) and a cool concert at night featuring St.Andries MCs from Antwerp, Sober and Dribbla,
	Xeno and Ava B. from the UK, Pesadilla from Spain, Kriso and PTF from Germany plus Fatty K, the Beatbox King (featured on the Antwerp-film on the 2002-DvD).The breakdance-battle has been amazing.

There are so many young and highly-motivated breakers in that city who show the vitality of the scene. Beside of local writers like Focus, Casrock or Gunti, heads came from UK, Denmark, Netherlands, US and Italy.

The MOS is meanwhile an established event in the cultural calendar of the city of Almere. In 2003 the wall has been reported as the longest Graffiti-wall in the Guiness` Book Of Records.

After having the MOS at the bench of the sea for the past two years, the MOS is coming back to the original spot where it happend the first time – the Betrix-Skate-Park.

A woodwall will be put up to paint while skaters will be around. A stage is scheduled for a concert. Breakers will be around and all will be fresh! The MOS started friday with priming walls and working on concepts.
	A sound-system was playing all day long at Saturday with music- and rap-groups performing on stage as well as a breakdance-floor was available. The concert with several Rap-and Reggae-acts started in the evening. Sunday was relax-reflex-day to finish artworks and to meet people in a more relaxed atmosphere.

The vibe was was pretty chill with Barbeque, beers and tea. A lot of writers had come to work together, to meet and to enjoy a sunny and colourfull week-end in the Netherlands.

You must know that in the wild east, clocks are ticking different. It came out of the sudden when the city-council of Belarus second biggest city Gomel has withdrawn the permission.

Minsk is the capital and largest city in Belarus, situated on the Svislach and Niamiha rivers and has a population of 1.8 million inhabitants. It is the the only city in Belarus with an underground metro system. Construction of the metro began in 1977, soon after the city reached over a million people. Since then it has expanded into two lines.

There are plans for a network with three lines, 45 stations and 3 train depots. Trains use 223 standard Russian metro-cars. On a typical day Minsk metro moves 800,000 passengers.
	Organizations such as the OSCE declared the 2004-election “un-free” because of the opposition parties’ poor results and media bias in favor of the government. In the country’s 2006 presidential election,
Lukashenko was opposed by Alexander Milinkevich, a candidate representing various opposition parties, and by Alaksandar Kazulin of the Social Democrats. Kazulin was detained and beaten by police during protests.

Lukashenko won the election with 80%, the OSCE and other organizations called the election unfair. He has described himself as having an “authoritarian ruling style”. Western countries have described Belarus under him as a dicktatorship.

The Belarusian government is also criticized for human rights violations and its actions against non-governmental organizations, independent journalists, minorities, opposition politicians.

After Gomel-premission was withdrawn, Liquid of True Stilo Crew, the local orga had found another spot located at a housing-project where a lot of war-veterans live.

	But, as you can imagine, veterans, especially russian veterans, are not very open minded when it comes to new culture. So it was not surprise that a week after we got the permission it had been withdrawn due to veterans political lobby. But eventhough: the local orga found a new spot, located near to the hall-of-fame, next to the train-tracks.
This spot contained more than 20 nice walls ready for dope productions.So the MOS started Friday afternoon with priming the walls and working on concepts.

More than 40 writers from all over Russia, Belaurs and Ukraine came to rock the walls. Even from really far out, heads travelled for days, just to be there.

	Writers not only fom Moskau, St. Petersburg or Kiev but also from Murmansk, Kaliningrad or Brest. Its been amazing to see how fast Graffiti developed over there nd how much the heads are into it.
The netting of the scene and the quality of artworks are on a very high level. Beside of this, the spirit of the Graf-scene is just right: the heads are very friendly, open-minded and are very much into colaborations.

The MOS is the major Graffiti-Hip-Hop-Event in Poland. An evidence is the fact that one of the major polish TV-station brougth a repot in the 10 o`clock-news at saturday night. Incredible! 

This is a wicked city with a very active scene. If you go through it, you find a lot of greyish walls, nice old architecture, in a bad status – very demolished – and a lot lot of bombings, tags and throw-ups. Lodz Kalinska-station was the place to be once again. The wall is huge and  approx 500m long and about 5m high. A huge stage had been there to rock the floor, the mics and the turntables. All disciplines had been represented. A scafolding helped a lot.  

The event started friday afternoon at one of the biggest shopping-malls in the city, with rapping, breaking and painting of woodboards. Came there late evening at friday, left the stuff at the hotel and headed to the huge wall at Kalinska-station. Everything was ready. The huge stage had been built up, the wall had been primed already with a long scafolding all over. So after checking out the wall, we headed to the cinema to join the movie-show of last years MOS plus more dope video-impressions of polish scene. The jam had been organised very professional as always in Lodz.

Saturday it staretd pretty early. Writers arrived and without loosing any time, the heads jumped on the wall and started to do thier thing. Eventhough the potential is pretty high, it was a little pity that only a few of the more than 50 writers on the wall followed a concept, communicating with their neighbours about colours, styles and concept. So the result was not a huge wall that brought things together, but many single styles and pieces in a good quality, with interesting skills. However, the local crew 461 and the NTK-collective with all their friends and helpers did a perfect job. It was so great to see how dedicated not only the local organisation is, but also all the writers and spectators.

Later saturday afternoon a progamm of breakdancing, beatboxing and rapping was rocking the stage and created this typical hip-hop-vibe at the scene. After the outside-jam the whole party continued at the Cube-Club with all the major local Rap-Acts, Beatboxers and many nice girlies. Some of the visitors continued celebrating to the early morning-hours. Sunday the jam continued with finishing pieces, meeting people in a more realxed atmosphere. Among 2000 people came to attend all attractions of the polsih 2005-MOS-edition. Pics be online soon

In Switzerland it is not easy to find a good spot for a Graffiti-Jam as most of the cities are running Anti-Graffiti-campaigns.

The swiss MOS happened at the same spot as 2004 – in Winterthur, a city 20km east of the Zürich. The main wall has about 600 squaremeters while the second wall.

The spot is located in an industrial area, next to a youth-center which was the basis, it is very good reachable by car and located next to a train-station. The jam started inofficially wednesday with priming the walls and working and concepts.
	One Truth from Zürich and Xenz from England were the main minds behind the idea of putting up the “Apocalypse” on the wall.Once the idea was born everything went pretty fast.

Writers snatched cans and wallspace and started to work. More than 30 writers were part of this huge huge concept beside of 10 more writers on the second wall right at the main street.

Friday evening a very dope street-style-party happened right at the wall. Breakers from Dangerous Mainz were spinning and rocking while Kriso from Darmstadt, Mr. Niggermeyer from
	Chill At Will-Crew and PTF from Germany were throwing dope lyrics and beats among the crowd. Around 11.30 in the night cops came along and “pleased” us to lower volume.

Due to the screamings of the crowd neighbours called the police. It was a short duscussion with them, but we found an agreement. When the cops were about to leave, some brainless crack-head threw a bottle behind them.

So what happened? We had to switch off the soundsystem and the party for this night was over – outside. But we moved the soundsystem into the center and rocked on. The locals heads put so much love into it, with th BBQ, the bar and the tea they caused a very nice chilly vibe.
	Once you have been to Switzerland, you will never forget this country and will love it forever! Its pretty much like the Netherlands, but some people say, it would be even more chill.
